Daniel: bespoke design, high jeweler and unparalleled quality.

Daniel Merin, Born December 30, 1987 is an American jeweler, entrepreneur and co-founder, and president of Daniel of Fifth Avenue, alongside Michael Caseau, co-founder and design director. Operating a family-run diamond house, he specializes in natural diamonds, bespoke jewelry and custom engagement settings.

Daniel came from a humble New York upbringing. In his youth as a journeyman, kin to his father, Isaac Merin, a hard working Fifth Avenue jeweler and well respected diamond wholesale maverick — Danny soon learned New York City’s hustle and bustle of the diamond district from his Fifth Avenue headquarters.

DoFA represents the mastery of gemology with an eye for unparalleled craftsmanship, value and modern spins on classic design. Expert Jewelers operating as a family-run diamond house, specializing in natural diamonds and the creation of bespoke fine jewelry, sub-specializing in engagement and bridal.

Having over 100 years of combined experience diamond wholesaling, diamond cutting and manufacturing — the Merin's bloodline dates back to Daniel's grandfather, Shlomo, starting in Sierra Leone, Africa during the early-twentieth century with Lazare Kaplan International. As Daniel’s father exited the Israeli army during the 1970’s, he went on to work as a diamond cutter for Kaplan alongside his father, ultimately bringing the family trade back to New York City in the fall of 1981.

Dubiously, the Merin's trade and wholesale business operates as Gem House International — founded in the year 2000, Daniel started his training as a youth. As a supplier to some of the largest entities in the world, such as Lorraine Schwartz — the entire New York Diamond market often visits their 580 Fifth Avenue address. Brokering to some of the most notable jewelers, as a result, celebrities such as David Beckham, Beyoncé, Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian have been adorned with diamonds sold by the Fifth Avenue outfit.

Personal highlights of such an illustrious career in diamonds include the sale of rare stones such as a 1.6 Carat Asscher-Cut Fancy Red diamond valued at nearly $2,000,000 USD to $9,000,000.00 offers on the family heirloom, a Fancy Intense Blue Emerald — in addition to millions of carats in natural white diamonds being sold to date.

The Merin family has a long history in the diamond business. A passion for service, customer education and consistent production has been, and always will be their company mission.
